![]() After all, since according to Blumentals' own description, WeBuilder is basically Rapid PHP with the addition of support for Ruby, Python, ASP, and ASP.NET, Has syntax checking, if that might be something you can turn on in options or something in Rapid PHP. I'm also wondering, since Blumentals claims that the PHP editor in WeBuilder In the end, it may come down to accepting the best of what's available, even if it doesn't meet 100% of the criteria, which, from the appearances, would currently be Blumentals. ![]() Is not a free extension, but they do offer a 30-day trial if you want to check to see if it fits the bill. Not sure how well it meets your other criteria (particularly #5), and PTVS ![]() WRT #7, PHP Tools for VS says that it offers "Real-Time Error detection," which, I suspect, is their way of saying syntax checking (especially since it runs within VS). I'll try PHP Storm in the next few days and let you know what I think. Version 2016 significantly ups the ante for Rapid PHP. I've tried the Blumentals editor a lot over the years. Having been without them for so long, maybe I'm getting starry-eyed. I probably shouldn't be as impressed because these things are present in most contemporary tools. When a file is opened, the left panel ("Code Explorer") is populated instantly with classes, functions, variables,Īnd constants clicking on any of them takes you to that spot in the module. I am impressed with the speed of the Blumentals editor and with the project navigation it provides. VSC understands folders but what I mean by #2 above is that the editor knows that the files in the folder are related. I haven't tested yet but based on research I think PHP Storm does everything above. Leaving off semi-colons is my second most common typo.īlumentals does everything except #7. This is a huge productivity boost and one of my most desired features. EW does this, but because it is no longer supported EW does not understand many newer constructs. Bracket matching is one of my most common typos.
